A huge restoration project is currently underway at Belmont Mansion to return Adelicia’s floors to their original beauty. But I love seeing and touching these floors! Do you see the marbling effect in the wood? This was done by painting the wooden floor to make it resemble marble. These are the original floors that have been covered for 130+ years! These are the floors that Adelicia, her family, her servants, and all the guests who visited Belmont would have walked on.
Lastly, here’s a sneak peek at the “recently revealed” wooden floors in the grand salon at Belmont Mansion, the setting of my Belmont Mansion novels and the home of Adelicia Acklen, the richest woman in America in the 19th century.
